About the instructor: Trevor was introduced to kirtan in 2015 by Tim Miller, of Encinitas, an ashtanga yoga luminary and great Hanuman devotee. At once enchanted by the potency and magic of mantra, Trevor’s path in pursuit of bhakti has been blessed by many influential elders, teachers, and friends along the way. He has hosted Kirtan on State in Carlsbad Village since 2021, and he relishes all opportunities to chant the Divine names with fellow spiritual seekers.

Hanuman Chalisa workshop

Discover the transformative power of the Hanuman Chalisa, a 40-verse poem celebrating Hanuman's virtues and devotion to Lord Rama, detailing his greatest feats in the Hindu epic, the Ramayana. Arguably one of the most popular Hindu devotional hymns, chanting the Chalisa is a daily spiritual practice for countless devotees the world over.

This four-part workshop will delve into the mythology and history of the Chalisa, explore correct pronunciation, chanting modes and melodies, and unpack the rich content of each verse, considered a mahamantra, or “great mantra" by Neem Karoli Baba.

Recordings will be available for all sessions.

Rocket 3 Master Class

This practice will include a modified mix between Ashtanga vinyasa primary, secondary, and even third series poses, stopping along the way to explore fun transitions and inversions. There will be lots of inversions in this practice and Yancey will show you all his secrets and tricks to get you there faster.

About Yancy:

Yancy took his first yoga class in 2005 while on a skate tour in the Dominican Republic. He initially got into yoga because it made him feel lighter while skating. In 2008 he received his 200-hour Vinyasa certification from Yoga to the People in New York City. In 2013 he completed a 500 hour Dharma Yoga Center certification and a 50-hour Rocket Vinyasa certification from Asta Yoga.  He wants to help his students evolve beyond the physical and mental, attuning to their natural rhythms and developing their 6th sense.

Join Zarah in a special workshop to discover practical ways to integrate Ayurveda into your daily routine, to harmonize with the seasons, and to honor your unique life journey. Learn simple, accessible practices that can truly be lived in the here and now.

Working with Ropes workshop

BKS Iyengar, inspired by 17th Century paintings of yogis suspended from trees with ropes, developed a rope wall for use in asana practice that he called Yoga Kurunta (which translates as puppet or marionette).

In this workshop, Tora Bueno will introduce the basics of working with the rope wall: how to warm up before class (useful for if you are feeling tired, stiff, or over stimulated), how to use the ropes to achieve more challenging poses, how to refine asanas you already feel comfortable in and lastly how use the ropes for inversions. We will cover various ways to adjust and retie ropes for many different poses and purposes.

Tora has been studying with various teachers in the Iyengar lineage since 2000 and became a certified CIYT level 1 in 2018. She turned to Iyengar Yoga to rehabilitate her hamstring injury and hasn’t looked back since.

She will be offering this “working with ropes” workshop monthly until the end of the year so come experience the spaciousness, freedom, and alignment in asana that will completely transform your experience of class in the middle of the room.
